Ways of Looking -työpaja Gitta Wigron kanssa

Kolmen tunnin mittaisessa työpajassa osallistujat tutkivat tapoja tarkastella tanssielokuvaa - mikä muiden tekijöiden töissä koukuttaa? Mitä tietoa poimit omaa työtäsi varten? Kuraattori ja kouluttaja Gitta Wigro (The Place) kutsuu elokuvantekijöitä muuttamaan näkökulmia siihen, miten hahmotamme tanssielokuvaa. ​

In the 3 hour long workshop participants explore ways of looking at dance film - what strikes you in the work of other makers? What information do you glean for your own work? Gitta Wigro, curator and educator (The Place), will invite filmmakers to shift perspectives on how we perceive screendance.

Gitta Wigro

Gitta Wigro is a freelance dance film programmer and curator based in London, UK, and has worked with a wide range of international screendance festivals, institutions and projects as a programmer, curator, juror, consultant and lecturer.

She is currently a programmer for the Screendance Competition at Leeds International Film Festival and one of the co-directors of Kinesthesia Festival. She is a core lecturer at the Screendance MA at London Contemporary Dance School, and in that role facilitates the student-led dance film festival Frame Rush.

She has programmed for festivals and organisations including BFI Flare (UK), Parallel Art Foundation (Hungary), Dance Umbrella (UK), Festival Quartiers Danses (Canada), Electrofringe (Australia), The Place (UK), and Anticorpi XL (Italy) among others.

Her previous roles include positions at The Place and Arts Council England, and she was co-director of Independent Dance, an artist-led organisation providing a responsive research space for artists in their ongoing development as professionals.

She co-ordinates the International Screendance Calendar and maintains information sharing accounts for dance film makers at Video Dance (Facebook) and @dance_film (Twitter).
